I’m sharing these pictures for one reason: the beautiful smiles of the kids. The majority of them don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Some of them don’t have any parents. More often than not, they go to school on an empty stomach! Unlike in America, where several food assistance options are available to poor students, in this part of the world there is no such thing as luncheon vouchers or free meals for the less fortunate pupils. Yet these kids still smile and laugh and dance! It appears poverty has taught them to endure at very early age. The thought of them hoping against hope and smiling on an empty stomach . . . unbelievable! Most importantly, they are very grateful, grateful for every little thing done to help them. That sense of gratitude is what fills me with all kinds of emotions. It makes me think of the American children, who have more than enough to eat, but take it all for granted. Thank you for helping us to help kids that are grateful for every little thing!
